Schooner Wharf Bar – Official Headquarters Of Conch Republic Days
Our Schooner Wharf Kick Off Party and Conch Shell Blowing Contest is the start of the Conch Republic Independence Celebration on Friday, April 20th at 7 p.m.
The festivities kick off at 7 p.m. with the Cayo Ritmo band playing island dance rhythms of the Caribbean, such as Reggae, Calypso, Soca, and Cha-Cha, as well as American dance rhythms, Rock, R&B, Funk and Soul. Enjoy improv steel pan, guitar, and Latin percussion jam sessions. Definitely bring your dancing shoes!
Listen to how it all happened! Conch Republic Prime Minister Dennis Wardlow will be on stage recounting the story of the events that led to our secession, as can only be told by the mayor who spearheaded our secession in 1982! We seceded from the United States, surrendered and demanded foreign aid (we are still waiting on that!)
The festivities will also include a Conch Shell Blowing Contest. Come blow yourself away! Compete with local blowhards, let freedom roar with fun and friendship. Prizes will be awarded for the longest and hardest blow of the Conch shell, as well as the most musical blow. Be one of the six winners to go home with great prizes from Landshark Lager, Cruzan Rums, water adventures courtesy of Schooner America 2.0, Sunset Watersports, Sebago Watersports, Spirit of Independence and treasures, compliments of Schooner Wharf Bar.
