Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council to meet in Marathon

The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary will hold an Advisory Council meeting at the Hyatt Place in Marathon, Florida, at 9 a.m. on Dec. 12, 2017. The meeting is open to the public.

Advisory council members will receive an update on the post-Hurricane Irma rapid reef assessment and triage stabilization as well as plans for marine debris removal. They will also be briefed on the alarming spread of coral disease along the reef tract. Fishing is the afternoon topic with an update on implementation of the Blue Star Fishing Guide Program.

Public comment will be taken at 11:15 a.m. and 3 p.m. An agenda is posted at www.floridakeys.noaa.gov. This meeting will be streamed live on YouTube.
